Back to Bogota

A couple of ommissions:

Dogs on a balcony in Dolores hidalgo:

Outside the butchers in Villa de Leyva:

Charred beef head anyone?

Back in bogota, a visit to the National Museum

Built in 1823 as a prison, the museum is the biggest and oldest in Colombia and one of the biggest on the continent.

In it are housed art and antiquities from the first civilizations in Colombia to the present.

Feather headware
Feather tapestry

And an exhibit of works by the iconic Botero. Fernando Botero Angulo (born 19 April 1932) is a figurative artist and sculptor from Medellín, Colombia. His signature style, also known as "Boterismo", depicts people and figures in large, exaggerated volume, which can represent political criticism or humor, depending on the piece. He is considered the most recognized and quoted living artist from Latin America, and his art can be found in highly visible places around the world, such as Park Avenue in New York City and the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

  1. WOW....you have stamina Andrew. Most would not have attempted the journey you did after being ill. Even if an 84 year old woman did this daily :) I can't believe you would even consider hitch hiking in Columbia! As much as the beautiful scenery is wonderful to see I think that if I was to travel there I would really enjoy the museums, your photos are amazing and very interesting. I generally find Museums a bit boring but the work you have shown is very exciting. Take care.....keep the hitch hiking to a minimum please.
